Tomorrow at noon, Rally is holding an initial public offering on a pair of 2018 Zion Williamson game-worn sneakers, worn during his senior season at Spartanburg Day High School. The details:

  • Market Cap: $15,000
  • Number Of Shares: 500
  • Price Per Share: $30.00

Busted... It's certainly not Zion's most famous pair of game-worn shoes. You may recall he injured his knee after one of his Nike PG 2.5's exploded less than 40 seconds into the Duke-UNC game on February 20, 2019. The incident caused Nike stock to drop almost $1.2 billion in trading the next day. If the busted pair were up for auction, they would fetch roughly $250,000. Want to buy shares of them in the future? Us too. Unfortunately, at least for now, the busted shoes are missing.

The Takeaway

In just 19 NBA games thus far into his career, not only is Zion already a star, but his potential to reach superstardom is apparent. His per-game averages of 23.8 Points, 6.8 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists at 19 years old are otherworldly. Rookie year, college, and high school memorabilia, especially for the most hyped NBA prospect since Lebron James, is historically a good investment as a long term hold. For reference, a pair of MJ's rookie year game-worn Spring 1985 Air Jordan 1s last sold at auction for $39,600 in 2016 (no game-worn sneakers from MJ's high school days are on the market to compare with). If you're a buyer, you should hope for the Lebron/MJ/Shaq comps to the upside, and understand the floor of a Blake Griffin/Charles Barkley downside.

* If you are a new buyer in this market, it's important to note that your shares will enter a three-month lock up period after tomorrow's initial public offering, and that you will be able to sell your shares once a month during trading windows thereafter.

Update: The ZI.P.O. sold out in 3 minutes.
