On Saturday, two horses will load in side by side to post positions eight and nine at the Pimlico Race Course and thousands of owners will tune in as Authentic and Max Player break from the gate at the 145th Preakness Stakes. Two industry leaders, MyRacehorse and SportBLX will face-off once again to closeout a successful summer for alternative investors across the country as the sport and marketplace continues to reach new heights. For the first season in history, every Triple Crown race will have featured at least one horse offered to the general public via fractional ownership.
Fresh off his stunning victory at the Kentucky Derby, Authentic will return to the track to close out the 2020 Triple Crown season at Pimlico. The crown jewel of the fractional ownership company MyRacehorse opened as the favorite at 9-5 odds with his primary challenger, Tiz the Law sidelined until the Breeders Cup Classic in November. History will be on Authentic’s side Saturday; His trainer Bob Baffert is a perfect 5-5 when entering a horse who’s going for the Derby-Preakness double. Authentic investors will be looking to cash in on a victory now that all race revenue kickers have been paid out. The Preakness purse is hovering around $1 million and Authentic will need to hold off some familiar faces if he wants to gallop away with the win. His stablemate Thousand Words, who was scratched from the Derby after he reared back and fell in the paddock, returns to the track and opened with the third-best odds at 6-1. Additionally, Art Collector, who is undefeated in 2020, will be a formidable challenger and has displayed speed ratings impressive enough to keep pace with the Derby winner. Shares for Authentic are sold out as the offering was closed before the Run for the Roses but fans should have a plethora of investment opportunities soon. MyRacehorse has been busy at the auction house this fall, as they purchased 17 yearlings with a total combined price tag over $4.2 million. There is no timeline on when the offerings will be made public but at least three of the horses can already be previewed.
SportBLX will once again present Max Player to the Triple Crown circuit. The son of Honor Code will take to the track at Pimlico Race Course after a respectable 5th place showing in the Derby. Max Player has displayed impressive consistency and displayed his endurance by making up enough ground in the home stretch to walk away from the Derby in the money. Although trainer Steve Asmussen has three horses entered for the race, it is Max Player who will load into the starting gate with the best odds at 15-1. Investors should be excited about the regular appearances Max Player has made at the top of the results table as he will look to add to his earnings of over $400,000 with a strong showing in Baltimore. SportBLX still has shares of Max Player available through their Annestes Thoroughbreds 3 offering, which also includes ownership of the promising colt Swingman. Annestes Thoroughbreds 3 is the third offering that features Max Player and has a valuation just north of $3 million. There are 28,000 total shares available at a price of $110 per share.
